*To lookup directions to any place you want to go just type the address in over at MapCity  This is the Chilean style Mapquest.

*If you’re a blonde female planning on staying a significant amount of time in Chile you may want to consider going brunette.  Blondes are very uncommon here, so if you stick with a lighter hair color, be prepared to be stared at and in general, treated as a foreigner.  You may even receive some marriage proposals…it’s happened to me!  If you do end up going brunette, unless you have a darker complexion you still won’t be mistaken for a Chilean, but you will attract less attention.

*Try to avoid carrying large bills.  And by large, I mean over $5,000 Chilean pesos, which is about $10.00 USD.  Even at supermarkets and restaurants they are often unable to give change. 

*To dial a house phone line from your cell phone you must mark 02 then the number.  To dial a cell phone number from your house line you must mark a 09 in front of the number.  So if someone gives you their cell phone either like this 083964006, or without the 0 in front, you would dial 0983864006 (no, that is not a real number, so don’t try to prank call me!
